Consultation Work

Our background in working with self build projects led to broader application of our skills in consultation. We worked with the local community to help identify ideas for a former carriageworks, and then to facilitate a representative group which allocated regeneration funding to community projects.

We worked with parents, teachers and local residents to help them decide what to do with a part-destroyed school in York following a fire.

We have worked on a number of Safe Routes to Schools projects with Sustrans, helping children and parents to find ways of making it safer to cycle or walk to school.

We worked with children at a Leeds school to help them decide what improvements they would like in their playground, and to develop tools for fundraising.

We worked with residents of a York travellers site to help them design improvements for their site and amenity buildings.

As part of a Leeds-wide arts project, we worked with children from St.Gregory's school in Leeds. The school had had a new playground built (as part of a land-swap) and wanted to look at ways of adding to it to provide more activities for the children. Who better to work out what was needed, and design it, than the children themselves?

We worked with one class over a period of about three months, mapping and modelling the new playground, and surveying the

needs of the whole school.

We then worked on ideas for landscaping and equipment (with the class teacher and the council's landscape architect, and made a large-scale model of it all. The children also wrote about and drew pictures of what they wanted to be able to do in the playground, and all of this was then used as a tool for fundraising.
